Matt Scafidi is one of the founding partners of Scafidi Juliano. Matt understands that real estate transactions involve an enormous amount of money and can be extremely stressful. He works hard to get to the closing table as quickly and easily as possible, ensuring the firm’s clients feel protected and support throughout the process.

Before earning his juris doctor, Matt worked for the PGA TOUR in New York. During law school, he founded the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Organization.  After law school, Matt served as an Associate with two private Boston firms before starting his own law practice.

Matt has always valued community involvement. He was asked to be one of the first “Connectors” for Boston World Partnerships, an initiative to raise global awareness of Boston as one of the world’s foremost centers of intellectual capital and innovation. He also spent two years as the Chair of the Housing Subcommittee for Mayor Menino’s Young Bostonian Advisory Council. He spent six years on the Board for the Westwood Community Chest and he currently sits on the Board of Advisors for Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Matt resides outside of Boston, Massachusetts, with his wife and three daughters.

What is a charity that you feel passionate about?
Boston Children’s Hospital.  The people at Children’s are a perfect combination: they are experienced and smart as hell; and they are kind, empathetic and loving.  It’s an incredible place.

Who is/was the most influential person in your life?
My father made the work-life balance thing look like a piece of cake.  He was a salesperson (mostly in electronics) and he had a long and effective career.  Somehow he managed to have a successful career and support our family of six while also being able to stay closely involved in all of our sports and activities when we were growing up. He was a man of few words and he was very unassuming but I think about him constantly; he was an incredible example and guide for me and my brothers.

What is your favorite restaurant?
Santarpio’s Pizza, but only the original location in East Boston.   I usually get a lamb or sausage BBQ to start, followed by a pizza with garlic and extra cheese (which is a type of pizza that I do not order anywhere else, for some reason).  They haven’t really touched the menu since I was a kid; they have grumpy but lovable employees; decent wine served in battered carafes; and, for years, the silverware had airline logos on it (because they got it free from their neighbor, Logan Airport).  Regina’s is also fantastic and, if you tell me that Regina’s is better, I will respect that.  You are dead wrong, but I respect your opinion.  😊
